Ethan's SOS

My SOS took place two or three years ago. I had just finished my book, it was 8:45 and I was ready for bed. I drifted into sleep. I was having a horrible dream. I was gutting chased by giant teddy bears with rabies. Then suddenly I woke up in a cold sweat. My pillows were all on the ground. I was burning under the covers, so I through them off. Little did I know that the night was about to get allot worse. I got up and walked to the bathroom. When I came out I looked at the stairs. I got this over whelming erg to jump all 17 of them. I took a few steps back and raced foreword. I jumped. As I fell I shouted "SOS!". I had snapped back into reality. Then without a warning some one grabbed my leg. I looked up and to my horror I saw one of those evil teddy bear thingies from my dream. His fuzzy brown paw was anchored around my leg. I started screaming " HELP! SOS! HELP! The bear started pulling and pulling on my leg then as I stared at it the bear started to burn. Not regular fire bright Green fire. When the flames lapped at my leg it didn't even hurt. Then I saw the strangest sight of my life. A lemur wearing a Harry potter suit, complete with a wand burst through the roof "HARRY RUBENS IS BACK!" he called as what was left of the bear shriveled up into ashes. The last thing I could do before I balked out was gape.

My eyes opened to the normal sounds of pots and pans. Only theese ones were different. I looked up at a furry face. Hmmmm that's strange I thought. Where had I seen that face before.... Then I remembered last night’s events. "Hello, Ethan said the face. "I am your great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, Grandpa. "My name is Harry Rubens,” he said.

"I know,” I answered.

"Check this out" Harry countered and pulled out a camera so small I could barely see. "All yours. It's even got a clock." said Harry as he handed it to me. I flipped it over and on the back was this little sign. :)

After a quick breakfast, we started talking about the past nights events. Turns out those teddy bear thingies were my great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, uncle Snape Rubens's minions. Harry started filling me in, he explained that he and Snape hade used to be friends, but late one night Snape had broken into his house. Snape had stolen his brand new refrigerator. But this was no ordinary refrigerator. This was a magical refrigerator. The brothers had never been the same. I looked back down at my camera. The little clock said it was 12:55. PAST MIDNIGHT! I started to feel a little tired. Well, really tired. So I asked Harry to find me a place to sleep. He cleared off a spot on his couch, and I curled up then went back too sleep.

When I woke up I realized Harry Rubens was nowhere to be seen. I looked around. I was back in my room. That was weird. Then it hit me. LAST NIGHT HAD ALL BEEN A DREAM!

2 SOS

Chain of Pain

My SOS took place 1 year ago, which was year 2007. It all started on a happy, sunny day. My mum was away in England visiting her mum. Whenever she goes away I always get hurt. I have started to think that if she goes away for one year then I am going to have something more painful happen to me.

Anyway, my dad was taking me to go biking in Cal and my bike didn't fit me so my dad put me on the back of the bike even though I was WAY too big for it. My feet sometimes got a little caught in the chains but it was only for one second. I loved having the wind blow in my face and I don't have to pedal. We came to a place where there were no people. I was enjoying the wind as it blew my hair back. I felt so great that I started to swing my legs then, all of a sudden I heard a grinding sound and then shoe went flying off!! My dad stopped the bike when he saw my shoe but, my ankle still caught in the chain. It hurt so much. My ankle was twisted in a weird direction. In my head I was silently screaming "SOS, SOS, SOS, SOS!" My dad quickly lifted me off the bike and put me on the cement then; he got the bike and locked it on a bike pole that was nearby. He then picked me up and carried me to our house. Luckily our house was a block away from Cal. When we got inside my house he put me on the couch. Then he got a water tub and put my foot it. My foot made the water turn blood red. My Dad then got a towel to wipe off the rest of my ankle. After that my dad said I should try to get up. I tried and I couldn't walk on that foot. My Dad started to get worried like if my ankle was broken. Then my dad called the emergency hospital.

When we got to the hospital we had to wait a long time until the doctors could see us. When they did they examined my foot and said that it was sprained. They put a cast on it then gave me crutches. We went back home. I played on the computer then lounged around a lot. One of my brothers named Andrew was at soccer practice and my other brother named James was at our neighbor's house playing with Liam. Then Liam and James came in and started to stare at my crutches. I said that I had sprained an ankle. Then Liam asked if he could try my crutches. I said yes, so I sat down on the couch and gave Liam my crutches. He went around the room with them then my brother James tried them and they both said that the crutches were cool. Then I said that it wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have this itchy cast on my leg. Then we all laughed.

It was hard to live for the two months that I had to have a cast and crutches; one of the things that were hard to live with (even if it was only two months) was that the crutches made my armpits sore. My SOS story had a lot of uncomfortable things in it and the main part of the story hurt a lot. At that I have to say that this is the end of my SOS story.

Double SOS!

The date was August 25th and the year 2000. The place was my grandma's house in Potomac, Maryland. It was eight days before my second birthday, a family party. Everything was going well. My mom was happily making preparations for the party. My dad was happily playing with me. My grandpa was reading the paper, as always. My grandma was preparing dinner. I finally got bored of playing with my dad and rode on my new gift, a plastic fire truck.
"He's on the toy, Carol," my grandfather said. I was happily doing loops on the wooden floor when I suddenly heard a scream and fell off of the toy. Everything went black.

When I woke up, there were people in masks all around me. I couldn't remember a thing- falling off of the toy, my dad playing with me, and the preparations for my party were all lost in my mind. Then, a second time, everything went black. My parents were driving me home when I came to. Ever since then, I have only been able to remember things that happened after I fell off of the wobbly toy.

Eight days later, my birthday party was held at Inverness Recreation Center. We were told to stay inside the kiddy pool, but I was determined to venture out beyond there. I saw a section of the pool that I thought was deep. Someone pushed me in. As it turned out, I was way in over my head without a life vest. Not only that, but I wasn't wearing goggles, so my eyes burned fiercely. Naturally, I wanted to scream, but the water did three very unpleasant things. First, it muffled my voice, so nobody could hear my cries for help.. Second, whenever I opened my mouth, water rushed in, forcing me to swallow lots of chlorine.(Blech!) Third, it cut off my air supply, and I didn't know how to float. This called for a real S.O.S! For the third time, everything blacked out.

When I woke up, 30 seconds later, I was floating. My mom was pounding the water out of me. Everyone else was eating cake. I'd been lucky to get out of it alive!

"He's Alive!" my mom said. It wasn't over yet. I had a hard time looking at what was happening to me, because I still had water in my eyes, but I think my mom was doing CPR on me. It was really weird. Everyone, including me, got to have cake after the incident. From the way I heard the chatter, I knew I wasn't going to the hospital.

Since then, I have only had one other S.O.S. It was when I was at Little League practice two days before our big game with the Tigers. In that practice, I broke my finger. I don't want to get in on the details of that.
The original S.O.S. that I described (falling of the toy) really had a crucial role on the person that I am now. Instead of remembering the social playtime that I had with my parents, I don't know a thing. It is why I do not like to meet new people or try new stuff, which I did before the S.O.S. involving the toy. Before the toy I liked to try new stuff. Now I don't. Before the pool I liked to socialize with people, then someone pushed me into the big pool. Now I don't. It is why I am me.

doggy S.O.S

My SOS started on a perfect day, in a perfect week, in a perfect year, and well you get the point, it was good. My dad, my sister, and I all went to the park for a bit of air. It was a nice day, all sunny and nice with a small breeze. We got my dog on a leash and we went.

When we got there we let Sadie off the leash on the sidewalk about ten yards away from the front entrance. When we got there we saw Sadie playing with an enormous puppy German Sheppard. They were sniffing each other’s butts when Sadie yelped and zipped out of the park and up the hill towards my house. We all start yelling at Sadie because we were scared and wanted her to be okay.

The owner of the other dog didn't even care about my dog, only his dog. When we ran all the way home we looked in the front and back yard... we couldn't find her and my mom opened the door and said she was inside.  My mom told us that she saw her running and opened the door. When she did that her paws were bleeding. Lucy and I had streaks down our faces from crying so hard. Unfortunately I was the one who had to get on my hands and knees to scrub the bloody paw prints off the floor.

Sadie recovered but didn't have to go to the vet. We think that her paws bled because she ran so fast, not because she stepped on/in something sharp.  Anyway that was my SOS.  Another SOS that is kind of linked to this, goes like this:

One day two weeks ago on Wednesday, I went to my tennis lesson and my mom said,
"I'll come with you this time, Sadie needs a walk."  So we got there, I went to tennis and she and Sadie went to the grassy area. About two minutes into my lesson, I hear a loud, high pitch squeal. Next thing I knew two dogs went by, one big, one small, a German Sheppard, and a mutt.  My dog was getting chased on to East Blithdale by a humango German Sheppard dog.
This was very frightened to me. Tears rushed from my eyes. I tried to fight them back but I just couldn't. My tennis teacher, Joe told me not to go any further. The other dog came trotting past all happy, not hurt at all. About 30 seconds later the owner of the GINORMOUS GERMAN SHEPPERD came back. Joe asked the owner (creep) guy,

"Are the dogs okay?" The owner (creep) said,

"They both got hit... I got to go see if my dog is okay."

I was stunned. This concept is scary to a ten year old. I started crying so hard that I got a bloody nose. Okay, that's the only funny part of my SOS. It was so bad. Only one of my million bloody noses could maybe beat this. Anyway, back to the point, all these people came over to me (fine! one or two) and said things like, " I'm so sorry" or, " That happened to my dog when I grew up..." On and on with sad stories. This made me even sadder.

I obviously didn't play tennis after that. So I just sat there in a forest Green wiggly plastic chair. After a bit my mom came to get me. She had a red face, obviously she had been crying. She motioned me to her. I went. She told me, "I have bad news... she died.

I started crying again. Not too hard, but not fighting tears. I wanted to say good-bye, but how? My mom told me I could see her in the animal hospital. I told her that I wanted to do that. She said that we had to pick up my older sister from dance. We waited and waited. Finally we got to Happy Feet the dance studio. When Lucy got in the car she was puzzled. We told her. She totally denied it. When we got to the hospital only my mom and I went in.

When we reached the room I opened the door,  took one look, and that freaked me out. Man, that was scary. But fortunately my mom made me go in. I stroked Sadie's fur. I gave her a couple of hugs and a couple of kisses and lots of tears. But when I told mom, "enough," we went.

That made me feel a lot better. Now, I still miss Sadie but don't cry over it all the time, anyway that was my SOS.

DANCE S.O.S

It all started when my grade had a dance section of the year for one of my favorite classes, P.E. My friend Nicole and I, had a particularly awesome dance which we had prepared to be so incredibly cool, that we would go down in history. Unfortunately, that wasn't exactly the way I was feeling about it. When we first thought about it, we had decided that we would dance to our favorite song, called Axel F by Crazy Frog. But when we started practicing our dance, people started staring at us. At first, I thought it was because our dance was really cool. But then I realized that this might be because our dance was weird. After all, our dance was unbelievably crazy.

Well, that’s what started the whole S.O.S thing. So I asked some of my other friends if they thought that our dance was weird, and they said "No, of course we don't think that it's to weird." That made me feel a whole heck of a lot better. After that, Nicole and I agreed that we should probably take out some of the extremely crazy parts of our awesome dance. After we revised it, we started making up new parts of the dance, and even added somebody else to the dance. Her name was Daisy. Daisy was new that year, so we tried to make her feel very welcome. It turned out that she loved to dance, so we let her pretty much do what ever she wanted.

Here comes the actual S.O.S. We would be performing our dance in exactly four days. I was back to being really, really, really, nervous. I tried not to think about what could possibly go wrong. Such as the wrong dance move at the wrong time, or the wrong music, or pretty much the wrong anything. I willed myself not to think about any of those things. But yet, I did. Mr. Tong, our P.E. teacher told me that everything would be fine, when I old him about it. But, of course, I had my doubts. Nicole told me that we could ask people not to watch us, but I told her that that was the whole point of performing.

After three days, Nicole, Daisy, and I, had completely perfected our dance. We thought it was fabulous. We asked people to watch us do our dance so that they could grade it. We got mostly nines and tens and even one fantastic eleven. But, we were all still really nervous. We spent more time working on the actual performance layout of our dance, than the dance itself. The performance was tomorrow, and we were very, very, very, confident in ourselves that we would do a completely fantabulous job performing our great dance.

Then the day came. We actually did ask people not to watch us, but of course they didn't listen. We told them that it was for certain specific reasons, but they still didn't listen to us. We were really quite mad at them, but we finally let them stay.

When we did the dance, we did great. No, make that utterly fabulous. The only problem with our dance, was that the boom box that we were using kept stopping in the middle of our dance. But still, I have to say that we did a pretty good job. I a really proud of myself to this day. That was my S.O.S.

Assignment Due Monday, October 27th: SO MUCH FUN YOUR HEAD WILL SPIN AROUND!

We are going to do a conversation thread. What is a conversation thread, you ask? Well, here's how it works!
I will do a post, and all of you will need to add on by adding a comment (NOT a new post). For this thread, I am going to start off a story, and you will need to add on to it. It might get tricky if 2 of you add on at a time. If you do a draft and save it, the story may have changed when you get back to the blog next time. So, you need to comment, edit and post your comment all in one trip to the blog. Check back and see how the story is going, or wait until I read the entire thing in class!
Here's the story start:

I rubbed my eyes again. Nope, it was still there. Right in front of me, with that little sign, there were three tiny cakes. One was frothy, foamy and pinkly frosted, with a pink cake bottom. Another was green, sparkly, with a cool white cake bottom. The third was blue and yellow swirls, with a lavender cake bottom. The ornately lettered sign, done in gold paint and propped up next to the cakes, said only, "Eat me".

Who had left these cakes? And why had they left them? "Jennifer? Amy?," I called softly. Maybe my sister or my best friend were playing
a prank on me. I waited a minute, but no one popped out of the bushes.

I looked at the cakes more closely. They were under a glass dome, on a blue plate that shone as if it was lit from within. There were tiny designs on the plate, that looked as if they were faintly moving when I was not looking directly at them. If I stared at them, though, they looked just like detailed painting, nothing more. The plate was atop a pillar, white, that also shone faintly.

I stepped forward and.....(you take it from there! Don't forget to do your post as a comment, NOT as a new post)
